Area 1: Ledges Above Lava Pool

In Story Mode, Willie is captured by the bad guys, so you control only Indy and Short Round. Hop down from the ledge and fight the group of Thuggees gathered around the LEGO statue.

Jump down to the ledge in the foreground and fight more Thuggees. Watch out for the lava pool that surrounds this ledge on three sides.

NOTE: You can see an artifact piece off to the left on a ledge near the back wall. If you like, you can jump across the stepping stones to reach it, but if you wait just a little while, you can get it more easily by climbing down from above.

There's a small pile of LEGO bits near the ledge with the checkerboard floor. These can be used to build a ladder. You probably won't actually need the ladder to reach the ledge, but you'll get some studs when you complete it. Push the red-and-green statue off the ledge. Then use the broken statue to build the handle for a spinner.

Build a ladder and climb or jump onto the checkerboard ledge.

Push the statue off the edge and use the bits to build a spinner handle.

Carry the handle you just built to the left end of the ledge and place it on the spinner's axle. Have one character pick up the box of LEGO bits and carry it onto the round platform to the left of the spinner. Then switch to the other character to push the green side of the spinner, raising the platform with the first character to the ledge above. Switch back to that character and jump off the platform before it sinks back down. Carry the box of bits to the right and drop it on one of the green LEGO plates near the statue. The second character should climb the ladder to the upper ledge automatically.

Have the other character push the spinner to raise the platform.		Drop the box on the green plate.

Now head to the left. The bridge has collapsed, so use Indy to whip swing across the gap to the next ledge.

As you fight the next group of enemies here, keep an eye on the Thuggee acolyte in the white shirt. When he dies, he drops his turban. Try and pick it up. Then, with Indy wearing the Thuggee turban, activate the Kali statue on the left to raise the bars on the alcove containing artifact piece #2.

Now retrieve other treasure chest if you didn't get it earlier. Move to the front edge of the ledge, where you'll see a handrail. Climb down here to the ledge at the edge of the lava pool. Jump across the lava to the ledge near the back wall with artifact piece #3.

You can't get back up the way you came, so instead hop across the small, round stepping stones to the ledge with the spinner. Then climb back up the ladder to the ledge above.

Have Indy whip swing across to the left ledge once more. Grab each of the torches from the back wall and place them in the sconces at the left end of the broken bridge. This raises the bridge so Short Round can cross.

The collapsed bridge then rises.

Have Short Round go through the crawlspace to the barred ledge above on the left. Pull the lever to raise the other opening of the crawlspace. Then crawl back through to emerge on the ledge with the second box of LEGO bits. If Short Round falls off the ledge before grabbing the bits box, just wait a few moments and the first crawlspace will sink back down so you can try again.

Pick up the box and carry it across the bridge to the green plate near the LEGO statue.

Use the bits from the 2 boxes to build a roof over the statue. Climb the handrails on the side of the statue to get on top of it. Jump across to the ledge on the right. Then use the dangling rope to swing across the next gap to land on a narrow rock pedestal in the middle of a stream of flowing lava. You may meet another Thuggee here, but he doesn't always appear. Jump from here to the next ledge on the right, then the next.

From the rock ledge near the huge, rotating pillar, jump to grab the longer of the dangling ropes. Slide almost to the bottom and then jump to the stone island on the right.

These islands rotate while you're standing on them, so you have to move carefully so you don't accidentally fall into the lava. I found it helps to move to one of the pointed sides of each island, wait for it to rotate close to the next island and then jump across. Hop across to the fourth island on the right to find a trove of studs including a purple stud (worth 10,000). Then either return to the first island and climb the handholds on the moving pillar, or just fall in the lava and die, losing a few studs, only to materialize on the high ledge where you started.

Starting from the ledge between the first rotating pillar and the dangling ropes, jump to grab the nearest handrail on the moving pillar when it comes within reach. Pull up onto the flat, donut shaped ledge that's part of the pillar.

Watch the next pillar and wait for the section with the 4 stacked handrails to rotate toward you. Jump to grab the top handrail in the group. Then quickly jump back to the first pillar, grabbing one of the rails on the section above the one where you were just standing. Jump straight up to grab the rail above and then vault up onto the upper platform, where you'll find artifact piece #5.

Jump to grab one of the higher handrails on the second pillar. Hang on as it rotates around to the right. If you stay where you are, you'll move through another purple stud, adding another 10,000 to your score. Jump from here down to the ledge on the right.

Fight a few more Thuggees. If you like, you can hop down onto the ledge below and step on the orange button to make the goat statue spit out a few studs. Step on the lift to ride back up to the ledge. Then stand on the 2 orange buttons to open the chests and get more studs.

When you're ready to go, have one character pull each of the levers to open the exit. (In Free Play, be sure to get the 6th artifact piece, as described below, before leaving. Once you enter the next area, you can't come back.)

Step on the button to get some studs. Then ride the lift back up.

Area 2: Ceremonial Altar [jump to top]

This area is dominated by a huge statue of the goddess Kali. At her feet is a carved, stone skull containing the Sankara stones stolen from Pankot village.

As soon as you regain control of Indy and Short Round, several Thuggees attack. Watch out for the rectangular pit in the middle of the floor as you fight, and stay away from the front edge, since there's more lava below.

When you've dealt with the enemies, move to the far left corner of the room. Smash the planks over the alcove and use the key mechanism inside to move the nearby statue forward along the checkerboard floor. This will enable you to jump on top of it later.

Turn the key to move the statue out of its alcove.

Climb the ladder on the far left to reach the walkway above. When you do, the walkway crumbles, allowing you to reach artifact piece #8, which was previously hidden by planks. Hop down and get it. Then climb back up and whip swing across the gap where the walkway used to be. (Or, if you're playing a co-op game, have one character remain down below to pick up the treasure chest.)

When the ledge breaks, get artifact piece (8/10). Then climb up and swing across the gap.

From the corner ledge near the alcove with the silver bars, follow the ledge to the right, jump on top of the statue you just moved and then jump from there to the next ledge. Use the lever to raise the basket with Willie inside partway out of the pit.

This lifts Willie a short distance above the lava.

Before jumping down, continue to the right and jump to the handrail on the side of the Kali statue. Pull up onto Kali's shoulder and then jump straight up to grab the smaller handrail above. Climb from there onto Kali's head to obtain artifact piece #10. Then jump onto the small, wooden platform behind the statue's head to pick up another purple stud, along with some others. If you want to, you can jump back to the statue and slide down either of her front arms to pick up the blue studs on her hands.

After you pull the first lever to raise Willie's basket, more Thuggees appear down below. They'll attack as soon as you climb down.

Move to the right side of the room and use the pile of jiggling LEGOs to repair one of the 2 statues sitting on the checkerboard tiles. Grab the orange handle on the statue on the left and pull it away from the wall. Push the other statue to the right, then forward against the wall.

Use the loose LEGOs to rebuild the statue.		Pull the left statue away from the wall.
Push the right statue toward the wall.

When you're ready to start the final big fight, switch to Short Round, smash the LEGO skull beneath the ledge on the right side of the room, and go through the crawlspace. When you come out on the ledge above, go around to the left, jumping across the ledges and the statues you moved earlier. Pull the lever on the leftmost ledge to raise Willie farther out of the pit.

Using the second lever causes still more enemies to arrive. There will be red-and-black clothed Thuggees, some with scimitars, some with crossbows, as well as a few Thuggee acolytes in white shirts.

The level Boss: Chattar Lal shows up shortly after the fight begins. His hardiness (6 hearts!) and special Thuggee powers make him difficult to beat. But notice how he likes to stand on the orange grates near the pit where Willie is suspended. You can use that to your advantage.

As you fight the Thuggees, pay close attention to the acolytes wearing black-and-white outfits. When they are defeated, they drop their turbans, which you can then pick up. While wearing this Thuggee disguise, approach one of the small Kali statues (i.e., the gray, plastic-looking LEGO statues on either side of the pit). Stand on the spotlight in front of the statue and press the Use button to activate it. This opens one of the orange grates in the floor. When Chattar Lal moves onto the grate, the heat and sparks from the lava pit below will injure him.

Now use the other small Kali statue to open the second grate. Real Thuggees will continue to attack as you do this. If your character gets smashed, he'll lose the Thuggee turban and have to steal another. But don't worry; the enemies will just keep coming. ;)

Once both grates are open, it won't take long for Lal to take enough damage so he's defeated. This leads to a cut scene and the end of the level.
